  1. ya, you know the most inspirational explorations in the past 75 years. Why would be people need to be reminded of the furthest reaches of human achievement.

  2. Evil_Eukaryote on

WHY. It’s just a harmless thing that barely costs money and brings many people some joy.

Fucking Christ can we please remedy this Trump situation already.

And the “science communicators” are saying fuck all about it.

Isaac Arthur, a republican has not tackled this. John Michael Godier has made videos about the NASA cuts but not mentioned Trump directly and Fraser Cain. A Canadian of all people has discussed the danger NASA faces but has stopped short of saying what we all know.

I understand some level of self protection. I understand how the social media algorithms stifle voices of truth.

But at some point you just need to be honest and speak the truth. This is how societies lose.

    Silence.

  4. Fuck orange clown 🤡 this clown will destroy everything. Fuck MAGA who voted for him.

  5. PlaneLiterature2135 on

NASA has excellent websites for it. I wouldn’t miss any social media account.

Dear beloved Voyager I am so sorry that your brilliance is being snuffed by a science-denying clown.

  7. blkcatmanor_12 on

Looks like Trump hates everything science related. Probably because he can’t handle that there are a whole lot of people who are smarter than him. His ego just can’t handle it. So the smart people have to go.

I don’t mind this cut much but the fact this is due to a drastically reduced budget is just awful.

We’ve lost the sample return and lunar gateway. The US is severely backsliding on science and there isn’t anyone to take it up right now. These are lost years in terms of research.

  9. Stupid. Being inspired by space exploration when I was a kid led me to an engineering and science education. While I have never worked (directly) on spacecraft myself, I’ve always felt the excitement from that period in my life was one of the best things that ever happened for me. Pulling away the exploration missions risks leaving big holes in the things that spark the kid’s imaginations.

  10. Yeah? Was this a DOGE cut? How much does it save to then funnel to some billionaire?

  11. If you voted for him and this upsets you, good. You deserve it.

ALL of the bullshit was right there and you ignored the warnings.

  12. Science and happiness within the population is bad in authoritarian regimes. Science and education is the enemy because it creates critical thinking and makes people question things.

He needs to dull more and more so they can stay in power for as long as possible.

I’m jealous of the Voyager probes. They are so far away from earth and its morons.

  14. “So nothing whatsoever to do with cuts that could be headed the agency’s way or dodging an awkward social media moment if an axe should fall on a perfectly functional mission, right?

No, this is all about consolidating posts, so users keen on following the Voyager mission don’t have to bother hunting down a feed for the spacecraft; it’ll all be under @NASASolarSystem and @NASAJPL.”

  15. This really just pisses me off! Is the objective to just be as horrible as they possibly can be? Do they look for new ways to be horrible. I don’t know why this particular issue got my anger up with everything else that has been going on. Probably just coping mechanism. *Wanders off screaming into the void*

  16. Key-Monk6159 on

I didn’t read it as a budget issue or even about politics.

    What am I missing?

Whatever the reason I hope it’s just temporary because these missions are historic and important.

The fascist want to be the only truth.

The Heritage Foundation and their ilk will not be free from consequences when this ends.

  18. _Administrator on

How can someone be so cruel? Why destroy everything that was created for science with a loving hands of thousands? Just why?

  19. Guys if we don’t let it tweet, Vger will have no choice but to return in hundreds of years to rid Earth of its carbon-based infestation!

  20. Tf, WHY? Voyager and Curiosity go too woke or something? I know the article says they’re looking to “streamline communication” but that sounds like bs.

Fuuuuuuck you Donald and I’ll say it again since my comment is too short. F U D

  22. uwillnotgotospace on

I wonder how much it actually costs them to run those accounts? Surely it’s a drop in the bucket compared to… Oh wait, that’s why. Performative “cost-cutting”.

  23. Can’t they start with Trump first then go to Vance, Lutnick, RFK Jr. and Homan, Loomer,

  24. andricathere on

And that’s the moment the aliens show up and say “The government is trying to silence us! Like and Subscribe!”

  25. Accomplished_Pen980 on

I just want to learn cool space things. Instead I learned what a bunch of hateful losers are in this sub.

  26. Syab_of_Caltrops on

NASA admins’ tantrum is having the desired effect. This social media account *OBVIOUSLY* costs almost nothing to run, and yet many in here are blaming the executive branch administration, which is exactly what the middle managers want. They want to keep their bloated jobs, so they make you angry by taking away the public facing services.

  27. First, someone get onto the datahoarder folk to get it archived.
Secondly, if this is Trumpism, given everything going on in the last week, surely Musk could intervene at X (formerly known as Twitter) and just force it to stay up and running just because he can?

  28. At least Voyager doesn’t need to deal with listening to Donnie Sexual Assaulter Bonespurs spouting utter shite all day long, one benefit of being so far out into space.
