Pictures do not look good…Hope some of them managed to make it out alive

  2. Crashing with enough fuel to get to London from India. Seemingly crashed into a populated area. Horrific

Lots of videos online of the crash. Seems the plane had no power it just dropped to the ground

Heartbreaking news this morning. Praying for all those on board & on the ground.

  5. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, but wasn’t the 787 Dreamliner subject to lots of issues and the reason Boeing is doing so poorly?

  6. I flew with air India once, and it was one of the most terrifying and frustrating experiences of my life. Aside from losing my luggage, you could see the outside of the plane through an emergency door.

    Hope everyone is ok though.

  7. Not looking good. Looks like some kind of engine power loss, or maybe incorrect flap configuration, and the plane had nowhere to go. Poor people on the plane, but also on the ground. At least for the people on the plane, it was probably very quick.

Is it being reported more are the number of plane crashes seemingly increasing?

Feel like they used to be extremely rare but now we get one every few months.

  9. >According to police, the plane crashed in a ‘civilian area’ outside the airport, and they say at least 242 people were on board. The plane’s final signal was received just seconds after take-off at 10.08am local time, less than a minute after it left the airport.

That’s simply horrific; it’s going to be good news when the death toll is under the thousand mark.

  10. Going to Bali next week, paid extra for Emirates flight not to use some Air India or some there I’ve never heard of.

787s simply do not fall out of the sky. Looking at the video of the crash it looks like the flaps aren’t in takeoff configuration.

No flaps in that heat, trying to generate lift. No hope

  12. I understand the BBC wanting to be accurate and compassionate but when you cant see the crash you cant know how serious it is. So you end up going on twitter and get exposed to all the racist 53 “british” comments.

Looks like it immediately lost power and the pilot was trying to glide it down. I know plots try and avoid populated areas when they know they’re crashing, but if they’re over a densely populated area and no means to avoid it, there was probably not alot he could’ve done.

Apparently a mayday call was made by the pilot. Least that should point them in the direction of what the pilots were seeing before the black box can be recovered

  15. Sky News is quoting an “Aviation Expert” who claims it may be a security issue.

If you go on his Twitter, he posts constantly against immigrants and muslims.

  16. save yourself the trouble and don’t bother reading anything on twitter about the crash. it’s so disgustingly racist it’s incredible. They’re even going after the BRITISH NATIONALS that were aboard the plane.

What an absolutely horrific thing to happen. Those poor people.

It’s a Boeing plane. If this turns out to be another mechanical fault caused by them cutting corners I hope people will start refusing to fly on their planes. They need consequences and the governments of the world aren’t going to enforce them.

  18. The plane crashed in a hostel of BJ medical college. 20 doctors are in critical condition in hospital. Our ex Chief Minister on the plane is confirmed dead. There were around 50 britons in the airplane.

  19. Dense_Independence21 on

Fuck Boeing , they killed all the whistleblowers who warned exactly about this . If it’s boeing , I ain’t going.

  20. Bruh, I just flew back to London from Delhi via Air India a week ago.

It’s terrifying how close death can loom over your everyday life. 53 British nationals…tragic

  21. All those people who planned a trip to Gatwick today to pick up loved ones. Horrific tragedy.
