Unveiling of the plaque in Bonn for the government in exile, German embassy: We supported Kosovo in the most challenging time

The Director for South-Eastern Europe, OSCE, Council of Europe and EFTA at the German Foreign Ministry, Michael Reiffenstuel, together with the Ambassador of Kosovo to Germany, Faruk Ajeti, yesterday on Liberation Day unveiled a commemorative plaque at the site where the Government in exile of the Republic of Kosovo (1995–1999) was once located.
The German embassy wrote about this today, saying that Germany stood by Kosovo in the most important and challenging times.
The embassy said that this plaque will be a symbol of the strong ties between Kosovo and Germany.
“Germany played a key role during Kosovo’s most challenging times, offering support when it mattered most. This plaque stands as a lasting symbol of Kosovo’s resilience and the strong ties between our countries – a bond that continues to grow in political, economic and cultural cooperation. Honoring history, strengthening ties and shaping a common future,” the embassy wrote.
At the plaque unveiling ceremony in Bonn yesterday, a minute of silence was also held in honor of Bujar Bukoshi, who led this government. Bukoshi died on Tuesday at the age of 78.
Ambassador Ajeti thanked Reiffenstuel for his speech at this ceremony.
“I thank Director Reiffenstuel for his speech on behalf of the German Federal Government, as well as Ambassador Geert-Hinrich Ahrens for sharing his valuable experience from his engagement in Kosovo in the 90s, including numerous meetings with President Ibrahim Rugova, Prime Minister Bujar Bukoshi and the incomparable intellectual Fehmi Agani.”/Express/
