EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLUC) – The Norway Knights baseball team saw its postseason run come to an end Friday against No. 1 Portland St. Patrick. The Shamrocks pitched a 7-0 shutout, only allowing three Norway hits. It was just the third time the Knights were held scoreless this season.
Norway committed five errors in the field, which proved to be too much to overcome.
Starting pitcher Cole Baij took the loss. Baij threw 5.2 innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs. He struck out five batters and surrendered three walks. Owen Baij came in for relief in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Knights finished the season 28-5 overall, and they won a district and regional title for the second-consecutive year.
