A fire damaged a home on Eddie Kahkonen Road in Norway early Friday morning. Officials say the blaze started in the basement. The cause is still under investigation.
NORWAY, Maine — A home in Norway was heavily damaged by fire early Friday after flames spread from the basement into the attic, officials said.
Crews were called to Eddie Kahkonen Road around 2:30 a.m. and arrived to find the house already engulfed in flames. Firefighters from multiple departments joined the effort to contain the blaze.
The people inside the home were able to escape without injury, though one firefighter was treated for a minor burn.
Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office spent Friday working with the local fire department to determine how the fire started. They’ve confirmed the fire originated in the basement, but the cause remains unknown at this time.
