Good, a welcome retraction from the school. Though used by some sectarian groups, to call the flag of the country sectarian in itself is appalling, and an example of some of the deep problems that have been allowed to fester up here
They’re right. I know a lot of people in this thread are from England will think it’s just Scottish Nationalism getting offended at anything; but the reality is, in this particular area of the country the only people flying the Union Jack (Outside of Government bodies) are Orange Lodge members, and it would 100% be viewed through a sectarian lens.
Throwing a tantrum in my mentions does not make any of you correct by the way, anyone who actually lives in the Glasgow region who isn’t a massive Tory or obese Orange Lodge member would agree with the school’s decision, it’s not surprising it took bullying from a local Tory wankstain MP for anyone to care.
*In a letter to parents last week she wrote: “Thank you for coming along last night to make the P7 leavers a special event in the life of the school. The children looked fantastic and had a great time.*
*”Unfortunately the use of the Union flag with staff images on caused some upset at the beginning of the evening.”*
We can expect more of this from Scotland, they’re growing more sectarian by the minute
To be fair, I have been told my Union Jack pants are quite offensive.
But then again, that may be because they’re slightly too small for me now.

I’m a scot and I am not pro union however what a stupid thing to say. What a strange hill to pick in the 1st place
So let me get this right Scotland looked to Russia for how they indoctrinate Ukrainian children and thought .. we can win this war by turning Ukrainians into Russians by teaching them their version of history and their preferences
If you don’t understand the connotations of waving a union flag in the West of Scotland, then maybe do some research before commenting. This is not an “independence” type thing.
Let’s receive more funding per capita than any other constituent country and leech off the teat of England while decrying the UK flag!
Well done the parents who obviously caught on to this going on in the school and took them on.
When “perceived offensiveness” becomes some grand crime, these are the sort of clueless ideologues that are produced.
This is where people go too far. The union flag is not offensive unless it it used in an offensive way. This was not.
How these people spout such nonsense is beyond me. I’m Scottish and have nothing but respect for the flag of our United Kingdom.
To all who call it the Butcher’s Apron (as if the English really care what you think of the flag), take your Irish flags down and you may have a point.
I’m just amused to see people getting bent out of shape over a piece of cloth while our public services are stripped to the bone, our rent costs half of our pay, and utilities take half of the rest.
But ay. There’s a rainbow over city hall. Time to get very very angwy.
