      It would be easier at this point to name the things Trump hasn’t ruined. The one tiny, miniscule glimmer of agreement I had with Dear Leader was the importance of space exploration/ exploitation. This time-line sucks

      I’m all for funding these programs for their value but “threatens US space supremacy” is an embarrassing phrase for a scientific organization to publish. Nationalism is destroying the world, it doesn’t need to be encouraged in scientific spaces

      Maybe it’s less about politics and more about how space exploration is cool and interesting but not useful to most people who are struggling to put food on the table and raise a family. This is combined with the fact that progress towards Martian colonization and asteroid mining has been incredibly slow and looks like it won’t happen in our generation.

      We have already sent probes to all of the large objects in the solar system. What is left to draw interest from outside the space community?

      Science is irrelevant. Whoever militarizes space first wins, you can lock everyone down on Earth while you monopolize everything up there

      Good. Give it to Russia and China. We don’t need science, arts, education, strong economy and strategic global positioning. How do we punish brown people and making billionaires richer, that’s where our focus should be. 🇺🇸
