Japanese professor who sealed the legality of the declaration of independence visits Kosovo

Former ICJ President Hisashi Owada, who internationally “legalized” Kosovo’s independence in 2010, is staying in Kosovo. Owada read the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice requested by Serbia 15 years ago.

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the reception organized by the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, in honor of the renowned Japanese professor, Hisashi Owada.

Professor Owada, former President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and former Ambassador to the United Nations, is visiting Kosovo.

In his speech during the reception, Prime Minister Kurti welcomed Professor Owada and, on behalf of the people and institutions of Kosovo, expressed his lasting gratitude for his role in leading the International Court of Justice during the period when this court issued its opinion on Kosovo’s declaration of independence.
