Submission statement: This article offers a rare insider critique of Palantir Technologies The piece explores how Pinto’s initial enthusiasm for Palantir gave way to alarm as he witnessed the company’s expanding influence over state surveillance infrastructure and its alignment with militarized governance—both domestically and abroad.

He draws attention to Palantir’s use of artificial intelligence and ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance) technologies to support military operations in conflict zones such as Gaza and Ukraine, and voices concern about similar tools being deployed for immigration enforcement and protest monitoring within the U.S.

It calls into question the ethical boundaries of tech deployment, the normalization of military-industrial values in software design, and the erosion of public sector independence under the guise of “efficiency” and national security.

Pinto’s journey illustrates how proximity to power can foster both complicity and the potential for resistance.

I was an early investor – sold everything when it became clear what they were about.
Can’t support how this tech is being used in the YS and overseas today – this is straight out of a George Orwell book…

  3. when Palantir had offices in my country they ran some heavy recruitment drives at my university. at one point they wanted to sponsor a hackathon i was a part of organizing. one of their stipulations was that every single one of the 400+ attendees needed to sign an NDA regardless of whether they took Palantirs case or not.

We went with LEGO instead and blacklisted Palantir for future events.

It’s long but everyone should read this. Luckily you can listen to the article.

  5. >>”Palantir is a company currently enabling Israel’s genocide of Gazans by supplying it intelligence and surveillance tools”

I don’t understand what AI or Palantir are contributing.

The Israelis have just carpet bombed the entire place to rubble, and now they are starving them to death, and shooting dozens of starving people every day at ration distribution points.

It’s the way war was waged in the Middle Ages or the Warsaw Ghetto – what is Plantir’s AI contribution to it?

  6. The synchronization of different data sets and ai being applied for various use cases (good or bad) is somewhat inevitable. The US gov could argue having this tech is a matter of national security given our enemies could create their own version and use it against us.

Unfortunately I think Pandora’s box has been opened, it was always going to be.
