KEK announces problems: Unit A3 of “Kosovo A” has stopped working, the boiler of unit A5 is leaking water

The Kosovo Energy Corporation has announced the technical problems it has been facing for the past three days. Through a press release, they indicated that the A3 unit of the Kosovo A Power Plant went out of the system “unplanned” today at around 00:30.
“Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK sh.a.) informs the public that unit A3 of the Kosovo A Power Plant has exited the system in an unplanned manner, today on 19.06.2025, at around 00:30. This outage was caused by fluctuations in the electrical system, in which case the generator protection system reacted, causing the automatic shutdown of the generator.”
KEK has also announced that in unit A5 of the Kosovo A Power Plant, a loss of water in the boiler was observed on June 17, while on June 18 it was stopped, while unit A4 has been under repair since May 16.
“We also inform you that in unit A5 of TC Kosova A, on 17.06.2025, a loss of water in the boiler was observed. Technical teams have closely monitored the situation and have kept the unit in operation until 18.06.2025 at 00:02, when it was stopped in order to avoid any major breakdown. Meanwhile, unit A4 of TC Kosova A has been under repair since 16.05.2025.:
“The management of KEK sh.a. is committed to, beyond the technical addressing of the situation, establishing a high standard of responsibility and accountability at all operating levels, as a prerequisite for guaranteeing the stability of the production system and public trust. KEK sh.a. assures the public that all technical and organizational measures are being taken to restore the units to operation as soon as possible, in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders in the energy sector in the country.”
