British Ambassador: King Charles fondly recalled his visit to Kosovo, especially the meeting with Baca Bajram

At the King’s birthday celebration, the British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, said that in his meeting with King Charles, he had recalled his visit to Kosovo and the meeting he had with the now deceased, Bajram Çerkini.
The Ambassador said that this celebration held in Pristina also served as a reflection on the deep friendship between the United Kingdom and Kosovo.
In a Facebook post, Hargreaves shared part of his speech.
“We are here to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III, a great friend of Kosovo. My wife Kate and I had the great honour of meeting him at Buckingham Palace in November. He fondly recalled his visit to Kosovo in 2016, including his visit to Prizren, and in particular his meeting with the wonderful Baca Bajram, who sadly passed away earlier this year.”
“Tonight’s event is a celebration of both His Majesty’s birthday and the deep friendship between Kosovo and the United Kingdom. Last week we remembered the arrival of British troops in 1999 as the vanguard of NATO’s intervention to stop the horrors being experienced in this country. It paved the way for the multiethnic, democratic, European state, at peace with its neighbours, towards which Kosovo has made much progress since that day.”
He said that this is the vision of Kosovo for which British service people and journalists, along with other international partners, have put themselves at risk.
“It is the vision of a country where its citizens can now expect their leaders to work together to act decisively on their behalf, without the need for intervention from allies. And of a country where the rights of non-majority communities are actively protected and promoted.”
“We are proud of the work we do with all of you here today, all of whom play your part in shaping the future of Kosovo. Thank you for the friendship, cooperation, and hope you have brought.”
