  1. She‘s horrendous, although next to my dad was a bus driver I’m not sure which is worse .

  2. klepto_entropoid on

I think people are going to smoke cannabis anyway and it’s stupid not to tax it.

  3. This is honestly about the worst approach they could take. They know they can’t deny they’ve used it so they wink at the camera, but they’re gonna persecute people who use it regardless. Just makes them look like wankers.

  4. I’m not British – I keep up with y’all’s news because I’m coming over to study soon (and I have people very close to me that are British that I’ll be joining soon.)

The fact these goblins won’t legalize cannabis when there’s all this talk about cutting benefits because of a budget shortfall is so fucking stupid.

Here in America there are some states where when alcohol was legalized, they followed the “progressive” model at the time (I.E. the way Canada did it) and created state run liquor stores that still exist today. Even the Republicans can’t privatize them because of how much revenue they bring in to the state budget. They just try to underfund and starve them out to set them up for privatization but it never works. I know this cause I worked at one.

If the British government legalized cannabis they’d have an additional 2.5 billion pounds of revenue a year they could tax. If they nationalized the sale like the liquor stores in some places here do, that’s 2.5 billion pounds of revenue for the state not factoring in labor and production costs.

I’m begging y’all, write your MPs and tell them quit being punk bitches and legalize cannabis before Reform comes in and fucks y’all country up the way Trump fucked up mine.

She should accept criminal prosecutions and sentences for all of the sorts that she had taken then. Don’t support a policy unless you’re happy for it to be applied to you too.

  6. Rare_Walk_4845 on

Course they’re not going to make it legal. This country is managed for the sake and the sentiment of people aged 70+

And even if the needle moved a single inch towards debating making it legal, here comes the Sunday Times with a powerful story of how a young man took some weed then promptly cut his own cock off.

  7. Yess I agree, we should continue the war on drugs. Even if it was lost a long time ago, its more important that we empower drug gangs by keeping it on the black market.

  8. SneakyBumbleBee on

So … she’ll happily admit to taking illegal drugs, but thinks people that do the same should be charged. No hypocrisy here at all.

  9. Biddlybongdebo on

    She’s taken allsorts.

I’m sure she has. One look at her puffing on a Lambert & Butler and I instantly thought, not only does she take it up the wrong ‘un, but she asks for it.

Common as muck she is, and that’s not a bad thing at all – it’s just she’s become parvenue which is a bad thing. She likely gets laughed at by her peers as the lairy council estate bint, yet she’ll think she’s one of them. That’s very sad, she forgot her roots and became nouveau riche. She’ll never be accepted by the middle class, Eton/Harrow lot, and now she’s ostracised by the demographic she grew up with, so she’s in a limbo and once out of politics, she’ll realise it when all her rich “friends” drop her for being tacky and plebeian.

But it’s already legal for medical patients… she does not even know the law of the uk.

  11. chaircardigan on

The people who currently do smoke loads of weed on the street are not a good advertisement for legalising it.

They all look dodgy as fuck.

  12. ChampionshipPale424 on

Absolutely ridiculous but completely expected. No spines to make change. Too worried about votes. Massive majority but lets not try and do anything radical, because.

    Such as wasted opportunity.

Meanwhile rest of world moves forward and is legalising, taxing and generating income.

    But UK can’t because <reasons>,

    Pathetic.

  13. salamanderwolf on

I mean why would you legalise something that you could tax, that would lower crime rates and help all sorts of medical problems easing the police and NHS pressures at the same time, when you can go after disabled people?

They really have lost so much of there left wing base that I don’t think they will ever get it back.

  14. NorrisBurster on

Why do you think little shit KHHANN wants it legalized? He wants a dopey, weed induced “ughh what Butthead?” UK population as we slip into Islamiliation of Britain.

“Hey Bevis…ugh…ugh…did that guy just say throw a gay off a building?”

    “Ah…yeah…ah…cool”.

    “Um…yeah I guess”

    “Hahah….uhhhhhh”

  15. liquor-shits on

It’s been legal and taxed for a decade now in Canada and everything is fine.

    What are they afraid of?

  16. I wonder what “all sorts” actually refers to. Journalists should push her on this, as it could mean there are people currently in prison or barred from holding certain public sector roles for doing something our deputy PM admits to doing.

  17. xSeolferwulf on

Meanwhile alcohol costs us tens of billions a year, puts pressure on the NHS and police, and is completely legal and socially acceptable.

  18. Nosferatatron on

It’s clearly not harmless and it doesn’t really help productivity in this country (which is pretty shit as far as the metrics go) but Brits are going to do it anyway so it may as well be taxed, oh and spend some money on proper rehab please so we don’t have to see spice zombies in big cities

  19. Alacrityneeded on

Legalise once a non stinking version is developed.

Bad enough already. It’s just shitty behaviour on those who smoke it doing it where people are walking and in goddamn hotels etc.

Edit: downvoting? Then you’re no doubt the idiots with shitty behaviour. As bad if not worse than regular cigarette smokers. 🤡

  20. jeremybeadleshand on

It will never happen here, if you have a state provided healthcare system one of the downsides is that it becomes in the states interest to keep you healthy so you don’t use it.

  21. US will tell them to do it, and accept US export of canabis and they will bend the knee

  22. ProfessorChaos213 on

I’m not surprised but oh well, i’ll still be able to get weed whenever I want it, legal or not

  23. It’s been painfully obvious to me for a while that the legalisation of cannabis is absolutely being held back as a ‘hail mary’ by political groups that support it. Fucked up big time and need to pathetically and cynically attempt to mobilise the youth vote to desperately try to save your careers from the chopping block – you’ve got the golden ticket stowed in your back pocket, ready and waiting.

  24. Corny_Snickers on

This is a mistake, long overdue just sort it out as a public decriminalisation for personal carry.. seizure of farms and product and create a government sale product and tax the shit out of it

  25. NorrisBurster on

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/jun/17/cannabis-use-could-double-risk-of-heart-deaths-study-suggests#:~:text=The%20analysis%20revealed%20heightened%20risks,published%20in%20the%20journal%20Heart.

“The analysis revealed heightened risks for cannabis use: 29% higher for acute coronary syndrome; 20% higher for stroke; and a doubling in the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease. The findings were published in the journal Heart.”

I believe another report last year, said smoking weed from teenage years increased chance of dementia by your 60s by 17%.

But yes, let’s give another reason to collapse the NHS.

  26. SloppyGutslut on

Drugs and parties for me, but prison for thee.

How does anyone find this state of affairs tolerable?

  27. Lame.

Bet it’s cos it’s the Royals cash cow. Why are we the world’s biggest legal exporter then?

  28. I can’t really understand how people who tolerate normal smokers have an issue with cannabis smokers it’s their life at the end of the day

  29. What type id message is this?

“I broke the law, and I support your friend and family going to prison for a crime i committed, fuck off peasants, vote for Labour”

  30. Madness tbh.
It’s a proven golden ticket for governments in terms of tax. Removes a revenue stream from organised crime and boosts economy with new business.
Multiple countries show it’s success and yet here we are ignoring it right when we need the boost!

  31. This is the same country that is the largest single exporter or medicinal cannabis of course.

  32. Then she should go and tell the police exactly what she took, if she supplied any friends, and demand to be be prosecuted for it to the full extent of the law.

otherwise she is all for legalisation, just only for her.

  33. bugabooandtwo on

I’m amazed the UK still hasn’t done it. Not only is it an amazing way to generate tax revenue, but it also drastically reduces the number of people in trouble with the law, which also free up police and social services to focus on more important things than someone with a bit of weed.

  34. Hard to believe that this gobby northern bint is second in command of the UK government.
