EUobserver published the EU’s closely guarded ‘review’ of the EU-Israel Association Agreement in full.

It’s pretty much a rehash of the previous report, which was circulated November last year and published by [EUobserver](https://www.linkedin.com/company/euobserver/) a few weeks ago.

Once again, the report establishes overwhelming evidence of Israel being in violation of Article 2 of the agreement, which should safeguard human rights [compliance.EU](http://compliance.EU) foreign ministers meet on Monday 23 June to discuss the review.

It does not leave much wiggle room if the EU wants to maintain a modicum of credibility on caring about human rights.

The report itself meekly concludes that “there are indications that Israel would be in breach of its human rights obligations,” which according to [Claudio Francavilla](https://www.linkedin.com/in/claudio-francavilla-a2930866/) of [Human Rights Watch](https://www.linkedin.com/company/human-rights-watch/) is “pathetic phrasing”.

  2. Sure, Israel caused great destruction in Gaza, Israel is doing “genocide”, Israel is evil for responding to 7/10.

Everyone loves to criticize Israel and how it defends itself, no one has any suggestions for what Israel can do better/differently (or, in this case, not mention 7/10 at all, not even once).

    Laughable.

  3. If Europe have the energy to do that, maybe they should spend that energy to work out how to rearm faster, not just reach parity or have an edge in capability, they need to have an near-unimaginable level of overwhelming firepower to deter Russia from doing anything stupid. Otherwise Russia can just spend years and sacrificing millions on waging war of attrition. The last 3 years have shown Russia have zero issue with throwing meat into the grinder and accept ever-decreasing quality of life for war.

I wonder what it feels like writing a report your boss doesnt want to read.

  5. I’d like to see a report from the EU on a list of ways the EU can improve the situation.

If they want Israel to lose they should join Hamas.
If they want Hama to lose maybe stop funding them, and even fight them, if they’re so unhappy with the way Israel
    Is doing it.
If they want regime change in Gaza, perhaps suggest an alternative, and offer to help install it.

If they want less human suffering in Gaza perhaps they should take Gazan refugees.

Pathetic privileged group, totally disconnected from the reality of conflict, complaining without ever actually doing anything to fix the situation.

After attacking Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, they are now attacking Iran… No sanctions, no military interference.

    EU has lost its backbone.

“First, let us remember where this started. On 7th October 2023, Hamas carried out the worst terrorist attack in Israel’s history.

Israel has a right to self-defence.”

“We must remember where this began. Israel has a right to exist and defend itself. No one should live in terror.
Our focus must be on where this can lead.

Pressure must increase on the Israeli government. I will do this on my side as I have repeatedly done.

Likewise, we must use every avenue to pressure Hamas into handing over Gaza governance to the Palestinian Authority. A united Arab world can apply pressure here. “
