  1. Now it gets spicy. Not just US and Israel…

Saudis, Qatar, UAE and so ons interests are at stake here very much like these of the EU, India and China…

  2. 1/5 of all oil passes though that straits. Ayatollah is willing to make enemies with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kawait, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and EU.

The straight includes Oman and UAE territorial waters, Iran can try impose a blockade but then they would actually give Trump and US and even bigger excuse to be involved and target their navy…

That would be a dumb way to escalate an already bad situation

And just like that… the entire global economy, that was struggling to recover from the Covid crisis and unnecessary tariffs. Well… I’m sure there will be no fallout.

  5. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. Two carrier strike groups and strategic bombers will keep it open, no matter what floundering Iran says

Im curious how they’re gonna enforce a closure, wouldn’t a naval blockade or rocket launch sites just end up being targets for israel

Have they never heard the Expression “Don’t fuck with the money.” This will turn the rest of the Gulf states against them, cost them what support they have in the West when gas prices spike, and it won’t work. The US just sent a second carrier group over there. You can criticize the US for a lot of things but there’s pretty much nobody that can resist their naval power.

  8. I’m curious as to how they intend to do this, and how those who don’t want it closed will keep it open. Will minelaying vessels be sunk before reaching relevant areas, or preemptively? Actual missile attacks on civilian vessels? Little boats?

Anyone know what they’re really likely to do these days?

  9. Even if they somehow have the ability to still carry out this threat, doing so will guarantee a swift death.

  10. That’s exactly the way this will spiral into the wider, regional conflict that everyone has been warning about.

It’s stupid though, they’re already vulnerable and yet they choose to pick a fight with a handful of neighbors

Waiting for the Trump “I did that” stickers to appear on the pumps in a couple weeks.

  12. Can Iran even do this? In the past it seemed their ability to do so relied on other nations not wanting to engage Iran militarily. If Iran moves out their navy, Israel or the USA may just sink it. If they attempt to use nearby airbases and missile sites, Israel will definitely just destroy those.

Attempting to set up a military blockage when you are a sitting duck doesn’t seem feasible. This could be another huge embarrassment for the regime. Especially if Israel already has a preemptive plan in place.

  13. So if I understand this right, they’re going to shut down China’s oil supply to minorly inconvenience the US.

Hey look! They are doing stuff with the approval of representatives! That’s crazy!
