Two Turkish nationals wanted in connection with an armed attack on Greek intelligence (EYP) agents near Thessaloniki on May 27, who had fled to Bulgaria, have been extradited to Greece.

The two suspects, aged 23 and 43, were arrested in the city of Svilengrad, near the border with Turkey, on June 3rd. Greek authorities asked for their extradition and Bulgarian police officers handed them over to their Greek colleagues at the Promachonas border station earlier today.

They are expected to appear before the investigative magistrate who is handling the case.

A third suspect in the case, aged 49, was arrested on May 31 and is facing charges of attempted murder, complicity, and illegal possession and use of a firearm.

The shootout occurred when three Turkish nationals spotted EYP officers tracking them near a gas station in Thermi, outside Thessaloniki. One suspect approached the agents’ vehicle and fired three shots – one hitting the hood, two striking the passenger door. None of the agents was injured.

Investigators have linked the suspects to the notorious Turkish gang known as the “Daltons.” Intelligence and police services had been following leads pointing to the region of Thrace, where efforts to track the trio had intensified in recent days.
