It’s incredibly frustrating to see Labour descend into infighting yet again. They were absent for most of the 14 years the Tories were in charge because they were fighting each other. It alienates voters. Every nasty or thick remark they lob at each other is picked up and passed on to other people.

Not one of those chaos-causing whingers has got any ideas about where to get the money from.

The reality is that many people are on welfare who COULD work. I know a few in my own life and so will many others. Could they become builders or restaurant workers? No. But there are jobs they certainly could do. I am no frothing-at-the-mouth Daily Mail fan. We have a ballooning welfare bill. More and more people are turning to welfare and bleating mental health or simply lack the basic life skills necessary to have a job. This needs to stop for their benefit as well as the economy’s.

Labour used to have schemes for getting people skills and into jobs. The Tories shut them all down. Obviously people will need support but it’ll be worthwhile.

There are people who truly can’t work and there are people who can but aren’t given the right support or aren’t made to work. If the numbers of people on the rolls could come way down, then the actual disabled could get a decent amount of support instead of being expected to survive on a pittance.

Until then, I have not heard one feasible idea about how to keep spending on increasing numbers of people while not crashing the economy. The public already torpedoed the winter fuel allowance cuts, which would have been the fairest way to save money given that Boomers are the wealthiest group and have not lost any support at all since 2008 while the futures of the young have been wiped out.

Well if they really want it to go through make it a confidence vote and we will see who is up for an early general election if it falls.

what we are an “outlier” in is spending less money as a percentage of GDP on disabled people and forcing people to live on some of the lowest disability benefit rates. Reform is needed, money could be saved fairly simply. But not by deciding that 87% are just no longer disabled, even though they need help washing, dressing and eating. The sheer rise in homelessness this will cause will bankrupt local councils.

If you want more disabled people employed, disabled people do, give companies tax breaks for employing us, but on the provision they actually do make reasonable adjustments

  4. Good. I didn’t have any faith in enough Labour MPs doing the right thing and still not completely convinced they will. But hopefully enough of them will vote against this bullshit.

  5. Thankyou to these Labour MPOs standing up against a leader trying to steal their party.

  6. I shocked at how they betrayed their own voters. I will never vote Labour and on right but seeing them just basically go up yours to all the Labour loyalists in favour of Blairite Southern London centric Britian will be studied for years to come.

  7. At the end of the day, there needs to be a reckoning with the public: either we have good GDP growth in this country, or we will have to make some very difficult decisions on the NHS, benefits and pensions. Furthermore, this nation’s NIMBYism does not help; we must construct quickly and cheaply or risk becoming an outdated, nuclear-armed nursing home.

The thing is that those rebel MPs are Labours best hope for not getting absolutely fucked up the arse by Reform come election time.

I mean I ain’t gonna vote for the cunts if they go through with these cuts. What’s the fucking point?

There are enough people queuing up at food banks and living in tents, do they really want to put sick and disabled people in that situation as well?

And for what? A few quid which will end up having to be spent anyway, on clearing away the homeless peoples tents, cos you cut their benefits and they ended up on the street if they can’t work, and putting people in hospital because their condition has spiralled due to being forced to work when they can’t.

Good. I doubt they will succeed, Starmer seems bloody mindedly determined to force through the bill that even the DWP says will push people into extreme poverty and kill disabled people. But good more are finding their spines and standing up to the nasty little Ronseal Wood PM.

  10. To all those saying that this to be done explain this to me.

I have Auto Immune Deficiency Condition. I have to have weekly subcutaneous immogoblin infusions as well as a host of other medications including several strong pain killers such as Tramadol just to get through the day.

The main issue with my condition is that something such as a simple cold completely knocks me on my arse, anything more serious has a habit me having to go to A&E. My Knees, Hips, Spine are all knackered. I have limited sensation in my hands and my memory is shot to shit.

I have other issues which require monitoring, I have yearly Lung Function Tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy, transjugular liver biopsy, Blood tests every 6 – 8 weeks just to name a few.

Now I’m sure there are things I could do but if I was an employer I wouldn’t touch me with a barge pole. I literally live day to day because I have no idea how good or bad I will be come the next day.

So tell me how is removing my PIP going to help me?

jeez I hope so, were at the point now where they are worse than the old tories on this topic. “oh, well yes we know your disabled and it affects many areas of your life, we just dont care” thats where were at. no one got pip for just scoring 4 darn points, they had to get double that, which meant to qualify without the single 4 points, they had SEVERAL health issues.

the hidden trap as well is how they are making the main out of work health benefit means tested. so apart from pip. if you have health issues but dont qualify for means tested support, UC, your money stops after a time no matter if you get better… so all those family households with 2 workers are going to lose thousands compared to now…those people who specifically pay in via the NI contributions through working! cancer recovery taking too long? tough, money stops. long term degenerative illness? tough, money stops. thanks for paying in though….
