After starring in shows and moves like Euphoria and Anyone But You, Sydney Sweeney has quickly earned Hollywood blonde bombshell status… but in her newest role, that’s all about to change.
In the trailer for the upcoming thriller movie Eden, Sweeney has gone fully brunette, and she’s practically unrecognizable. Since the movie takes place in the ’20s, everything about Sweeney’s makeup and wardrobe is also reflective of the time period, so she’s really made a total transformation here.

Eden, which is directed by Ron Howard, tells the story of “a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon civilization, settling on a remote, uninhabited island only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other,” according to the movie’s synopsis.
As the situation on the island grows increasingly dire, the settlers experience “betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.”
In the movie, Sweeney plays a character named Margret. Ana De Armas, Jude Law, and Vanessa Kirby.
Interestingly enough, the movie is based on a true story about a group of European settlers who tried to turn an island in the Galápagos called Floreana Island into their own paradise, according to Ecoventura. But little did they know the darkness they’d uncover while there, ultimately resulting in the disappearance (and deaths) of two of the settlers.
Eden hits theaters on August 22, 2025.
