LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The interim head coach of Lexington Sporting Club’s Women’s Super League team has been suspended for three games, accused of creating a hostile environment. Another team administrator was also placed on probation by the United Soccer League.
Sam Stockley took over as interim coach in March. He’s been with LSC since 2021.
Documents obtained by FOX 56 show the league investigated reports of emotional and verbal misconduct by Stockley, including harassment that may have created a hostile work environment.
A law firm conducted 22 interviews and found he violated the league’s anti-harassment policies.
Stockley served a three-game suspension from May 9 through June 2 and is now on a 6-month probation.
Lexington Sporting Club never publicly addressed the suspension until Thursday.
“An independent investigation was conducted through the USL Safe Space program into allegations involving the technical staff of Lexington Sporting Club’s women’s team. Based on the findings, appropriate action has been taken.
Lexington Sporting Club remains committed to maintaining a culture of safety, respect, and open communication throughout our club and community. Out of respect for all involved, and adhering to safeguarding best practices, the club will not be commenting further.”
