What if we just renamed nasa space force and didn’t tell them? I doubt anyone up there would know the difference. And space force sounds manly so they’d prolly go for it 🤯

  2. Give up something much needed for something that should have never been considered in the first place.

  3. Who do I write to to object to this?! This should be defense spending, not specifically for space force plus NASA is responsible for many of our creature comforts.

I am so fucking sick of this bullshit. Republicans disgusting disregard for science is going to set humanity back decades, and not just in the US. Trump has practically insured that we will never see a man land on another planet in any of our lifetimes. Fuck him and every single idiot that voted for him.

so the pentagon (which should really be the hexagon by now) is going to fail a bigger audit next time

That section of the bill was dictated by the american military industrial complex.

Like many, MANY, other actions taken by the current administration.

  7. The_River_Is_Still on

Bill is a joke and they know it. They dont even hide it anymore. That damn name says it all.

  8. brokencreedman on

What is one ACTUAL achievement or useful thing that has been done by Space Force? I’m not being facetious either…I legitimately want to know. Have they done anything?

  9. What’s more realistic in the next 5-10 years?

    Military space warfare capabilities

    Or

    Humans colonizing the stars

We all know which will happen first. regardless of who is president, we must be ready for foreign military in space.

  10. For reference, NASA’s budget last year was roughly $24 Billion and republicans want to cut it to $18.8 Billion to save money.

This same proposal also increases Spaceforce by an extra $11 Billion, and increases total defense spending by slightly over $113 Billion, with a total annual defense budget just under $1 Trillion ($962B).

  11. That 40 billion will go to a lot of pockets and space fart will never progress – all the while the agency that does do real space innovation will suffer…. Trump did that

  12. Moon-Monkey6969 on

Yes, lets cut food programs for kids and cut medicare for seniors so we can buy $2k toilets for space force! Brilliant idea Mr president!!🤦🏽

  13. armegedonknight on

Sounds like they aren’t stopping research just shifting it all into the Space Force so the results can be twisted as per each administrations wishes. Definitely not a good thing, science should be public so anyone can advance the fields, not just corporate starfish suckers.

  14. DaBarenJuden on

And who will end up with a lot of contracts through the DOD?

DOD plays by different procurement rules. There will be more corruption and less oversight so Trump’s space balls buds get more $$$

  15. This is incorrect. The “Big, Beautiful Bill’ only gives supplemental funding to selected agencies. It is completely independent from the appropriations process that will decide what NASA’s science budget will be.

  16. Space Farce. Make new agencies with no oversight, cut spending to existing agencies with existing oversight, profit.

  17. Dontkillmeyet on

What is Space Force going to do with $40B? Track more space debris? Put more GPS satellites into orbit?

  19. To be fair, while not a military organization as it’s primary mission, Starfleet does handle just about all logistics, exploration, communication, and defense throughout the Federation.

Just want to say every single person who has enthusiastically cheered for, and supported spacex is in many ways personally responsible for this.

I bet they’re going after 16 Psyche. $40 billion is a drop in the bucket compared to the worth of that asteroid.

  22. the country is controlled by a group of offensively rich sociopaths with a hard on for Empire and it’s just so stupid

  23. Warmongers gotta warmonger. They’ll start telling their MAGA morons that China and Russian are gonna take over space.

What’s the point of finding aliens if we can’t do proper war with them?

  25. Expensive_Prior_5962 on

You just KNOW that money isn’t going to be seeing much if any actual science work.

That money is going to be funneled straight to trumps wealthy friends. Guaranteed.

  26. One day, when the aliens do stumble across this godforsaken planet, and all that will be left of our civilization is our big beautiful weapons stockpile. They’ll think our Gods were Lockheed, Martin, Grumman.

Gee, I wonder who could’ve called this exact thing happening way back when this bullshit military wing was created in the first place…

America is not a serious county. I can only hope that the EU is able to pick up the slack.

  29. HereticHamster on

maybe I’m stupid, but isn’t NASA the guys who research the environment the Space Force will be fighting in? how can you fight effectively without knowledge of the terrain?

  30. Content_Log1708 on

I’m sure Russia and China can see what the US is doing, weaponizing space. They will follow. We’ll probably have nuclear weapon platforms and intercept platforms in space in a relatively short time.
