At a Tbilisi City Court hearing, Judge Nino Galustashvili (future prisoner) refused to dismiss public defenders she had assigned to 11 defendants, political prisoners arrestes during December pro-EU protests – even though all of them already had their own lawyers.
The defendants rejected the extra lawyers, saying they only trust their own lawyers, and the public defenders themselves asked to step down, saying their presence was unnecessary and unhelpful.
🗣️ Lawyer 1: "They’ve clearly said they don’t want us – that breaks the trust needed"
🗣️ Lawyer 2: "They all have capable lawyers already. There’s no legal reason for our involvement."
🗣️ Lawyer 3: "We’re needed in cases where people have no one – not here."
Despite this, the judge said the decision was final and that the public defenders would remain on the case.

As far as I know, there is no such thing even in Russia
It’s just unreal what a joke the courts are.

Thank you for posting this.
I was pleased the lawyers found their moral compass, shame the judge forced the issue.
Can’t make this shit up.
