IPK issues notice on monitoring operation for “Vidovdan”: Kosovo Police was professional, no irregularities

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has announced that today it has carried out a monitoring operation in the two main locations where the activities of the Serbian community were held on the occasion of the “Vidovdan” event, in Graçanica and Gazimestan.
The press release states that PIK monitoring teams have been present on the ground since early morning and have closely monitored the management of public order and the implementation of the police operational plan.
“During the monitoring conducted on the ground, PIK did not identify any irregularities or inappropriate behavior on the part of police officers. The general behavior of police officers and the management of the situation in general were assessed as professional and in accordance with the standards of police behavior and human rights,” the announcement states.
“In particular, PIK evaluates the Kosovo Police’s operational plan as well-structured and effectively implemented, which has contributed to maintaining security and public order throughout the event.”
PIK adds that it will continue to exercise its legal function independently and impartially, by monitoring and investigating any possible illegal or unprofessional actions of police officers, in the function of accountability, transparency and protection of the rights of citizens in the Republic of Kosovo.
