No data with the same colour as mid temperature is not helpful
This gif conveys basically nothing useful.
This is pretty cool! I’d say you should keep the “last recorded” temperature for places with spotty data, rather than reverting to the null color.
You can’t just take a modern political map, and apply it to the past.
Given how large some of these countries are, this choice of shading isn’t valuable. May be good for small EU countries.
I think South Sudan should be coloured the same as Sudan until they become independent. The temperature for Sudan applies to the whole area of Sudan plus South Sudan so it doesn’t make sense to only have the north coloured
