Joseba Lazkano is a fourth-generation winemaker from the family that started the Gaintza estate winery in the Basque region of Spain, founded by Andrés Lazkano in 1923.
Joseba Lazkano has come to Chicago this week to feature Gaintza’s wines at multiple locations via the Olé & Obrigado wine and spirits company.
That includes Sunday during the Chicago Pride Parade until 2:30 p.m. at BottlesUp! Gaintza will also be featured from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday during Paella on the Patio at Mama Delia’s and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday during the Flights and Bites Series at Emilio’s Tapas.
Lazkano joined Sean Lewis on Sunday’s WGN Weekend Morning News to talk about his family’s winery, why wine from the Basque region is no unique, and more.
