    >The force said the investigation “will be evidence-led and will closely consider all appropriate legislation, including relating to hate crimes”.

We shall see if the court will rule that inciting violence against the IDF (whatever that means) amounts to inciting violence against Jewish people.

Let’s all pretend this isn’t purely to placate the Israeli embassy.

  3. I’ve said this elsewhere but I’ll say it again here…

The political class in the U.K. has a terrible record of associating criticism of Israel’s occupational and expansionist policies in Gaza and the West Bank with antisemitism. Likely at the behest of the Zionist lobby and the United States.

This has done nothing but devalue true incidents of antisemitism which is obviously a problem and egregious when it happens.

Explicitly calling out the IDF is not antisemitic and is a shocking insult to many to try and badge this as such.

Nothing says “underfunded and under-resourced” like spending time and money investigating someone chanting at a concert.

How is “Death the IDF” anti-semitic? They are a militant arm of the Israeli government. They’re not saying “death to jews” or even “death to Israel” but “Death to the IDF” a notoriously ruthless military arm. Wouldn’t be like saying “Death the Paras” if you were from say Derry in the 70s? Not “Death to the English” or “England” but the military force. Help me understand.

    The clown show continues.

Legislating against speech has, shock horror, not decreased bigotry but has increased police work. Stop trying to control people’s views and let the police focus on real crimes.

“We have received a large amount of contact in relation to these events from people across the world”

Didn’t realize the British police were the world police. Public order offenses now include offending non-british people overseas, it seems.

Nothings coming from this, it’s just A&S police being forced to say they’re doing something imo

  9. Look at the BBC news page and the juxtaposition of the stories, you couldn’t make it up.

  10. I wonder how much pressure our media and political elite are under through back channels from America and isreal to react over this. For me as a normal person…. The OVERWHELMING concensus is that genocide is happening and this was a backlash from a very large group of people in one place, doesn’t this tell our democratically elected leaders to follow what people want?

    Just my opinion….

A punk band who’s whole thing is saying controversial political stuff said something mildly controversial at a festival known for left wing polemics. That seems like a truly insane thing for the police to investigate.

  12. Not really clear on the law here.

For this to be a criminal act, does the chanting need to be anti-semitic?

Regardless of sentiments toward the IDF (who I have no particular care for), isn’t the potential crime here just the act of incitement to violence/hatred? Doesn’t seem really relevant if its anti-semitic or not.

Murdering innocent hungry children queing for food looks more criminal than some hurty words directed at those ‘killing innocent hungry children queing for food ”( some people are only human/humanists )

Only the great makevelies & manipulators can turn that on its head and claim to be the victims with the help of MSM and politicians who are all complicit in the insidious actions of a states war machince.

So that burglary I suffered three months ago is still not going to be investigated but this shit is?!

    Ffs.

  15. No_Aesthetic on

Tens of thousands of innocent people dead in Gaza and they’re worried about this bullshit.

  16. I know their performances were bad because they’re terrible artists but to get the police involved is a bit harsh.

  17. I’m sure Toby Young and his Free Speech Union will be along to defend them any minute now…

  18. Plasticbonder on

What a waste of time and money – just to pacify the fucking Israelis. Just what is it that they have got on our politicians?

  19. The government is so out of touch with the country’s sentiment on these issues.

  20. Are they just shoe-horning Kneecap in because they are the whipping boys at the moment? What is there to investigate about their set?

  21. “No place for hate” say the police. I mean the IDF has killed how many thousands of children? How many people are being killed each day by the IDF? But no, the bad people are musicians.

  22. CaptainVaticanus on

Someone shout death to Russian armed forces and see if they investigate that one

  23. moonfarmer89 on

What a joke. Not enough money or officers to deal with crime here but suddenly they can when there’s criticism against a foreign army that’s killing children for entertainment.

  24. I once had a car broken into and was told “what do you think we can do about that?” But it’s stunning to see an investigation into some chanting at a festival

  25. Glum-County7218 on

Never forget that the IDF murdered 3 British veterans last year. John Chapman, James Henderson and James Kirby.

Ofcourse the killer army are investigating themselves and will likely hold none accountable. Meanwhile, our government are investigating an artist for speech

  26. What great PR this is for Bob Vylan. I’d never heard of them before this weekend, but a punk band couldn’t pay for better publicity than all this.
