A 9-year-old girl from North Macedonia dies tragically in Italy

A serious tragedy has shaken the Italian municipality of San Giacomo di Pederobba, near Treviso, where on Sunday at around 16:00 PM a 9-year-old girl from North Macedonia lost her life, reported “La Tribuna di Treviso”.
According to reports, the girl A. Islam, a resident of Cavasso del Tomba, was on an excursion along the Piave River with her parents, Ihmet and Naila, as well as her younger brother and sister.
According to information, she was playing on the rocks with some other children when she suddenly slipped and fell into the river. The strong current of the water pulled her and the girl disappeared before the eyes of her family and witnesses, writes albinfo.ch.
Firefighters, carabinieri and divers immediately arrived at the scene. After a long and tiring search, at around 18:30, the divers of the fire department found the girl’s body trapped among the rocks in the river.
Meanwhile, Koha.mk reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a report about the tragic event had been submitted to the Macedonian consulate in Venice and they confirmed that the girl is a citizen of North Macedonia.
The MFA said that the Consulate is in constant communication with the family of the deceased in order to carry out all necessary administrative procedures for the transport of the deceased’s body to Macedonia.
