If it’s true that’s so fucked, he only got married last week.

He had his whole life ahead of him.

  2. 28, got married last week, has young children and a 7 month baby, his brother died too.

One of my favorite super sub players

Feel like I’ve been punched in the face

Only a few days after his wedding. I’m impressed how in tragedy football rival fans unite in sympathy. As it should be. RIP jota

Wow that’s blood runs cold sort of news. Poor guy, just married and with young kids too 🙁

  5. Huge huge sympathy for his poor wife and children. The man had the world at his feet, so tragic. RIP

  6. Wow that’s seriously shocking news, this took me aback when I read it. Such a talented and likeable footballer, not someone you expect this to happen to, with a young family, so sad.

  7. Heartbreaking to see a young father and husband die. It doesn’t feel real. You support a football club thinking that the worst that could happen is they want to leave you, not this.

*Oh, he wears the number 20, he will take us to victory*

*And when he’s running down the left wing, he’ll cut inside and score for LFC*

*He’s a lad from Portugal, he’s better than Figo don’t you know*

    *Oh, his name is Diogo*

Globally, road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for young people aged 5-29

  11. What the fuck, this can’t be real. Liverpool isn’t even my team but I feel proper gutted by this, I can’t imagine how they are feeling.

“just two weeks after he married his childhood sweetheart.”

“Jota had just married Rute Cardoso, the mother of his three children”

This is so so sad. 😞

    RIP.

Fucking awful. Always hated to see him come on and score against The Arsenal but thats because of his talent.

    RIP.

It’s a weird feeling when a footballer dies.

When George Baldock died a year ago it hit me hard as a Sheffield United fan, you watch these blokes every week for years. They bring you unforgettable moments of emotion but have they have no idea who you are.

I think we forget how young they are as we see them so often from a young age.

  15. Terrible news. Only two weeks after his wedding and his brother was killed too. His poor family.

This is really sad. A young man with the world at his feet. His brother too. Tragic.

Awful news. His poor wife and family. Didn’t believe the headline when I read it. ❤️

Well that’s just utterly rubbish. So young. His poor family, to lose two sons at the same time 🙁 His poor wife and kids. How horrible. I’m really, really sorry for those who love him.

Tragic for his wife and children, really feel for them.

But 5 people die a day on UK roads though without much fanfare.

Absolutely gutted for their family. Truly tragic. Im not looking forward to telling my son his favourite player had passed away either.

A young man, recently married, a father of a young family, on holiday, with an incredible life ahead of him. Being a footballer is the least of it. Dies with his brother too. This one ticks all the awful boxes. My most sincere condolences go out to all his family, friends, colleagues and all those who loved him.
