A BRADFORD arts venue will host a play marking the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide next week.
My Thousand Year Old Land (A Song for BiH) brings the beauty, music and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina to audiences.
On Tuesday, July 8 it will be performed at Loading Bay – a new arts venue on Duke Street set up for Bradford’s City of Culture year.
Written by Aida Haughton MBE and Susan Moffat, the play is based on survivor testimonies from the genocides and war crimes that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. It tells a story of the search for truth, justice and hope through women whose lives are changed by the deaths of their communities’ men in war.
The performance will include a 30th anniversary programme, a special video message by Munira Subasic, President of Movement of the Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves and information for school and community groups on how to access the Rescuing the Names workshop.
The performance is free, and begins at 6pm.
