  1. Many countries/cities (especially in Japan) have an official mascot to promote tourism.

Construction “Crane” jokes aside, who’s the best mascot to promote the country of Malta abroad?

    Xummiemu the hedgehog

    Puka (lampuka, the dorado fish)

    Katerina the bee

    Peppi the mailman (MaltaPost)

    Żażu the bird (Sedqa)

    Fonzu the rabbit

Filfola the blue lizard (this one is made up, the others are real)

    Other (a chameleon?)

    Other – Karl l-Krejn

    Loophole with Maltese spelling 🙂

Louie the Luzzu would be pretty cool though

Only representative if the postman is carrying a bunch of “I’m sorry you were out” slips.

I feel like whatever mascot is chosen, it should be always be holding a refreshing bottle of Kinnie.

The bee is of course a natural choice for the mascot because of the island’s history, but the stinger looks vaguely menacing and the hands of the bee seem too small to hold a refreshing bottle of Kinnie. Perhaps it would work if the bee was shown hugging the can like some sort of helicopter carrying a large pillar, but that menacing stinger would still be an issue.

I don’t fully understand the prevalence of the hedgehog cartoon around the island (internet says it is an environmental cleanup mascot?); the mascot is cute and the hand is well-proportioned to be able to hold a refreshing bottle of Kinnie, so i think the hedgehog (+Kinnie) should be the one to be thrust upon the world stage.

  5. as a foreigner i always liked the hedgehogs , saw 9 total on my first year

  6. They’re all terrible. Does Malta not have any art courses? I wish I wasn’t being sincere. Most Maltese brand artwork looks like it was done by a child and/or came from the 70s/80s.

Just take a picture of a twistee and be done with it.
