UPDATE: Inclement weather has led to the cancellation of many Fourth of July events including the City of Austin’s Star Spangled Fest and fireworks display with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

EARLIER: The City of Austin and the Austin Symphony Orchestra will host the 48th annual July 4th Concert & Fireworks Celebration at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center on Friday. The event is free to attend and will start at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., accompanied by a performance from the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
The evening includes a selection of onsite food and drink options for purchase and live entertainment on both the shoreline stage and the Long Center lawn stage. Attendees may bring blankets and chairs. Pets are not permitted, with the exception of trained service dogs.
Parking and transportation for Austin’s July 4th celebration
For those driving, heavy traffic is anticipated in downtown Austin and surrounding areas, including South Lamar Blvd, Barton Springs Rd and Riverside Dr. A road closure map is available on the City’s website. Roads are expected to reopen by midnight.
For alternative transportation, consider biking to Auditorium Shores via the Hike-and-Bike Trail, or using CapMetro services.
CapMetro will offer free rides after 5 p.m., with bus routes operating on Sunday-level service and rail routes on Saturday-level service. Ride-share drop-offs will be along Lee Barton Dr. south of West Riverside Dr.
Public parking options include downtown street parking north of Lady Bird Lake and the following garages: One Texas Center (505 Barton Springs Rd); Palmer Event Center (900 Barton Springs Rd); River South Garage (425 West Riverside Dr); City Hall Garage (301 W 2nd St); and State Garage N (300 San Antonio St). ADA-accessible parking will be available at the Palmer Event Center Garage and One Texas Center.

Buda is hosting a full day of family fun at the Buda Amphitheater on July 4. The day begins with a Downtown Bike Parade, with line-up starting at 8 a.m. and the parade at 9. Festivities with a DJ kick off at City Park at 4 p.m. Later in the evening, country artist Aaron Watson will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., leading up to a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.
