If this is the cause, I would expect there would be no occurrence of Chiari among Africans since they have no Neanderthal DNA, right?

Especially since there’s no skin on that skull to hold the brain inside.

There’s some very concerning comments here that are attempting to “apply” this “finding” to certain people.

Over the last year, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic paroxysmal hemicrania and astrocytoma, so seeing any brain-related headline makes me do a double-take. Not related to chiari, but still.
Later on in the article it makes it clearer that the affected skull shape *looks like* neanderthal skulls and they don’t know if it’s actually anything to do with neanderthal DNA. The headline doesn’t hough. Hope this doesn’t end in more discrimination and slurs towards disabled people.

While I’ve never had a genetic test done i do have *a lot* of stereotypical Neanderthal features. There’s a reconstruction of a Neanderthal man with his daughter on his shoulders that my wife showed me once because it looks exactly like me and my daughter save for a bit of jaw size and muscle mass. That said, I had absolutely horrible migraines growing up and even into my 20s. I wonder if my Neanderthal DNA had anything to do with the weekly migraines I got to enjoy.
