Nearly three decades after Subway appeared in the original “Happy Gilmore” movie, the sandwich chain is teaming up with Netflix to bring the cult classic back to life.
Beginning July 10, fans across the U.S. and Canada can order the “Happy Gilmore Meal” at Subway locations in celebration of “Happy Gilmore 2,” which premieres July 25 on Netflix. The special meal promotion includes limited-edition packaging and one of four collectible cups featuring characters from the franchise, including Happy Gilmore, Shooter McGavin, Hal L. and Oscar, a new character from the sequel.
Customers can upgrade any Meal of the Day to a Happy Gilmore Meal for $1 more.
The collectible cups were illustrated by sports artist and director Mickey Duzyj, known for his work on animated sports stories. Each cup includes a QR code that links to “Subway’s Happy Place,” a digital experience offering movie clips, games, and a sweepstakes.
Members of Subway MVP Rewards will receive bonus sweepstakes entries for a chance to win weekly prizes, including golf gear, $3,000 checks, and a grand prize trip to a golf resort. Instant prizes such as Subway Cash and Topgolf play codes are also up for grabs.
The promotion runs for a limited time. For more information, visit Subway.com or SubwayHappyPlace.com.
