This will continue to happen when things like the means testing of the winter fuel allowance gets opposed and the constant support for the triple lock happen. As well as not imposing a form of wealth tax or opposing anyway of the richest increasing their contribution.
When issues look to be fixed, we need to let them be fixed.

Love to see this. This government’s reputation is already in the dumps. Going after the rich and the baby boomers won’t hurt their polling numbers any longer. Better to tax the richest of them to oblivion so we don’t carry on with this gerontocracy. I wouldn’t even mind a discussion around May’s dementia tax.

Just hit the middles more then, without realising that there’s nothing left to give.
We already have lowering living standards and taxing people more will just drive more people to say ‘stuff it’ and claim UC rather than pay ever increasing taxes.
I can’t wait to get hammered yet again with frozen tax bands because I earn enough for nobody to feel sorry for me but not enough to actually live how people assume I should be living for what I earn.
People need to wake up and realise anyone on £250k or less is a worker and anyone beyond that should be the ones getting hammered.
I don’t even particularly want more. I’m happy for the poorest to benefit the most from any policy changes, as long as the richest are paying for it. The amount of tax I pay is eye watering for what I receive in return.
Why are people defending Labour and Reeves? The sort of tax rises she’s talking about are just going to make life for the 90% harder still. What is wrong some innovation? Perhaps legalise cannabis and cocaine and tax them. Or how about a land value tax?
Oh good, I can’t wait to pay more tax. At this point one wonders what the point of working is

Time to fucking leave. Until they’re prepared to cut the fat there’s no sense in any hard working person (blue collar or white) staying in this cesspit of handouts. Votes are now insufficient so the only option is to withdraw labour and fertility and look for pastures new until this nonsense blows over.
This was inevitable but the government just should not have wilted on benefits reform and winter fuel payments. This is classic Labour Party eating itself alive stuff (and I say that as a one time Labour member and long time Labour voter).

They’re going to tax us into economic and social malaise, just to keep precious benefits and pensions maxed out.
The big Tory campaign message was that labour would raise taxes by £2k a person.
This number was calculated because the tories knew how much it would cost to unfuck their mess.
They want labour to be the bad guys sorting the countries finances out so they can get back in when the economy is good and fleece the country once again.

I’m on 75k and with a 3 bed house in the south costing me 2300 a month, I feel like I am starting to have less to give as it is.

This could have been a 2/3 term gov but theyve decided the only hard choice they want to make is raising taxes, its not even Revess fault. I really dont like her politically but the rest of the party carries the blame not her.

I tried to have a conversation about tax with my dad and it’s impossible.
He’s absolutely certain we can’t tax the rich more. It always comes back to him saying he doesn’t want to pay more tax, he’s retired but still has his business running.
As much as I can say Im not talking about his small business, and that in the grand scheme of things he and I are poor… he just csnt fathom that when people talk about taxing the rich he isn’t in that set.
And even if you can get him to understand I’m talking about billionaires, it quickly comes bsck to “i dont want to pay more tax”…

It’s bizarre seeing how basically every piece of British life is taxed and how little there is to show for it. Bearing in mind huge increases in cost of living should logically have led to huge increases in VAT
No easy answers to this question. Brexit did a number on the country and someone is gonna have to pay for it.
That being said, it’s bizarre for people to point at the lowest earners as those who should bear the burden when there are super yachts on the Thames and private jets flying in and out of the country
Why on earth isn’t the pension just linked to inflation and pensioners on over 85k aren’t entitled to it.
