Macedonia: Three months in prison for killing dog

The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje has found Ljube Krstevski and Branko Bilbilovski guilty of murdering the dog Feliks, who died on January 7, 2025 as a result of the injuries inflicted.
Krstevski was sentenced to three months in prison, while Bilbilovski received a fine of 1,000 euros, which was imposed in the form of one hundred daily fines worth 10 euros each, alsat përcjell albinfo reports.
According to the indictment, on November 19, 2024, Krstevski hit the dog Feliks in the head with a hard object, without any justifiable reason, causing serious injuries. Together with Bilbilovski, they tied the dog with wire and dragged it away, thinking it was dead.
The incident was handled under Article 233, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, which prohibits the killing or mistreatment of animals without cause and provides for penalties of up to three years in prison.
This is a historic decision for justice in North Macedonia, as it is the first time a prison sentence has been handed down for such a case.
