  1. Can’t wait for the islamophobia/blasphemy law to come into effect, should be an interesting time to be alive

Take the kid gloves off and treat them like you would anyone critical of Islam

  3. trmetroidmaniac on

love how public discourse delineating acceptable speech is just tossing back and forth accusations of *phobia and *ism

  4. Solution: ban all religions, cults, and book groups. If they want to act like young children, their toys will be taken away.

If the article is truthful about them broadcasting a speech that called Jews the enemy of all of humanity, then I think the fine’s warranted.

There was also a case where a student was removed from a body because of antisemitic tweets.

Jewish organisation decried it as a case of antisemitism

Muslim organisations decried it as a case of Islamophobia

It’s just the another go to defence these days. Anything to give you an edge.

Yes yes yes everything is Islamaphobia. The religion that is offended by equality yet those that yearn for equality for unfathomable reasons.. get up in arms and defend victims of islamaphobia.

Remember.. a wife is obliged to give sexual satisfaction. No choice. Gays.. well you’ve seen how that plays out across the world.

Yet still.. people will demand inclusivity among those that demand exclusion.

All because of some man in the sky.

Something something gays for Palestine.. where it’s a criminal offense.

The world is a strange place these days.

  9. >Salaam BCR, a community radio station, included a speech by a radical imam denouncing Jews as “the biggest enemies of humanity”

    >Sheikh said of Jewish people: “Their history is from killing prophets to only protecting their own interests, to instigating war, to instigating war and then lending money with interest and strengthening their economy, to achieving a bigger purpose for themselves and a very big reason for that is for their vision of a ‘Greater Israel’.”

Let’s end this nonsense, a 100% secular society is the next best step.

ANY forms of religious preaching should be banned from public broadcasting, take it all as hate speech from all faiths. They all have a few things in common, mainly hatred and violence.

We’re never going to properly make the next big step as a civilization while we continue to allow people to tell others what they can and can’t do because of an ancient fucking book and a sky fairy.

  11. ScrewtapeBaggins on

no religion should have special protections, the fact that we are putting this even close to the same level as discrimination against immutable characteristics such as race, sex, or sexuality is insane

  12. > Campaigners say the row over Salaam BCR, which broadcast an antisemitic speech, shows the risk of officially defining Islamophobia

Sounds like it’s not remotely Islamophobic, actually, and that the radio station is very clearly in the wrong for calling it that. Equally, this instance does not exemplify the “risk” of adopting an official definition of Islamophobia.

An actual definition of Islamophobia would be a useful thing, if you want to avoid this kind of frivolous counter-complaining.

Or we could all continue to pretend that it’s some kind of secret blasphemy law designed to silence criticism of Islam – despite the fact that a) it wouldn’t even be a law and b) it explicitly allows for criticism of Islam.

I guess it’s similar whenever GB News gets in trouble with Ofcom they also cry and blame ‘woke lefties’ but this time blaming Islamophiba.

Paradox of tolerance in full effect with Islam in recent years

God knows where we’ll be a couple decades from now

  15. Of course they did. Say something horrible and not in sync with the nation you live in, get fined for it and then cry fowl when caught.

I’m sure the government will knock this on the head and tell them to abide by Ofcom rules

  16. National Secular Society do such great work in calling this stuff out in a fair and non-hateful way. Great organisation.

  17. Dubious-Squirrel on

It would be hilarious if our determined tolerance led to a new caliphate under Sharia law.

  18. limeflavoured on

This comes under “they would, wouldn’t they?”

I’d guess a Christian station would make similar comments if something like that happened to them.

  19. Ban religion from all politics, be in Islam to Jedi and everything in between. Medieval fictions have nothing to do with a functional government

  20. I wonder how the UK would look of people were as Islamophobic as these people want to call us. Besides, it’s getting to the point where if you’re not scared of Islam there’s probably something wrong with you – I don’t want to tolerate people who still believe it’s okay to subdue women, execute gay people, bleed animals to death, and kill people for apostasy.

How can you trust a group of people who claim to hate gays but covers their women with bedsheets lest somebody find them attractive?

I saw a lovely Iranian lady on YouTube today out in London, she was protesting by putting the message across that people like her in Iran don’t hate the Jews by default. Spreading a message of peace, saying its mainly the people in power who are the problem.

The problem is political Islam I.e the Iranian leadership that wants to forcefully spread and kill in the name of their God. Just like this guy, he’s not a good Muslim/person, he’s a hateful politically motivated idiot.

I’ve even seen Muslims say this on tv in the late 90s, literally saying political islam is the problem and separating themselves from it and we’re seeing that problem today.

  22. I genuinely don’t think religion and modern day life in 1st world countries should or can coexist. How can it be that a religion which is however many thousands of years old has a place in 2025 in countries like the UK. Religion should only be a thing in 3rd world countries because that’s where the fruits of their labour is and where they thrive.

  23. Please could someone more enlightened than me explain what the societal benefit is to pandering to Muslims? And why are the Tories and Labour so obsessed with it?

  24. macrolidesrule on

Oh for the day when I don’t have to hear about this poxy political ideology dressed up in superstitious claptrap.

  25. I imagine they’d be quite upset if they were called out for being incredibly sexist, homophobic, transphobic and racist to other groups they currently despise.

It’s a real slippery slope when you allow a religion complete impunity from criticism. It’s the paradox of tolerance all over again.

  26. This is the game these people are playing, they are laughing at our policies of ‘tolerance’ and gaming them to shut down criticism of their own intolerance.

The worst antisemitism in the UK comes from Muslims, and significant problems with other intolerance (towards gay people, women, other religions and atheists, for example) are much worse in this demographic than the general population. We should not be tolerant of intolerance.

  27. Oh someone said did something or said something we like, clearly the other guys fault… sick of that attitude being enabled
