Four active fires in North Macedonia
Four fires continue to be active in North Macedonia. Two more have been localized while three have been brought under control. At the moment, there are 14 fires burning in open areas, of which five have been completely extinguished so far.
As reported by the Crisis Management Center, the fire in the municipality of Dojran, in the village of Nikolić, continues to be active, while there is also another active hearth in the municipality of Staro Nagoricani, in the municipality of Makedonski Brod and in Gazi Baba.
“The fire in the Municipality of Çuçer Sandeva, between the village of Gornjani towards the village of Bllacë, has been localized, and a fire in the Municipality of Veles has also been localized. Two fires in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod, and one in the Municipality of Veles, have been brought under control,” say the CMK.
The largest fires in the last 24 hours have been recorded in the municipality of Berovo and in the Dellchevo area, where firefighting teams are continuously engaged in the fight against fires.
Regarding the resources involved in fighting fires, the director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Stojançe Angelov, in an interview with Free Europe, said that in just one day, 63 fires occurred, while with the 50 army and police vehicles that were given to the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, according to Angelov, the power to fight fires has increased drastically.
“I assure you that these vehicles have drastically increased our firefighting power and we have demonstrated this. Extinguishing more than 63 fires in one day is neither easy nor simple,” said Stojançe Angelov – Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue.
The QMK says that weather conditions, including high temperatures and winds, are making it difficult to manage the fire situation, while appealing to citizens for caution and cooperation with authorities.Alsat.mk
