By AI minus the "woke", they mean 'everything must agree with right-wing viewpoints' AI.
All autocratic regimes prefer citizens to live in a doctored version of reality, so I'm 100% unsurprised to see this pushed by the current US government.
It's ironic that the same US government wants global AI dominance. If this becomes law, most of the rest of the world will reject such AI in their own countries. It would be illegal in the EU.
Ironic that Chinese open-source AI is also doctored (trying to get it to talk about independent Taiwan, Tiananmen Square Massacre, etc) – yet for most of the rest of the world, it will be far superior to whatever 'right-wing only AI' this law will create. Guess which the world will choose, and will win the global AI dominance race?

If we look at Grok we can also see that they consider anything truthful to be “woke” so good luck over there US. Soon you’ll have MechaHitler running your country! And you’ll have one half of the country saying that is A-OK.

Whatever they select will just get ejected in 4 years.
It won’t have much long term impact other than impeding AI adoption in the US government.
Which is, honestly, probably a good thing.
The US government isn’t a big enough AI customer to displace everyone else, so it will end up being ignored in the name of expediency or followed but prevent adoption of AI other than maybe Grok, which won’t provide the results they want.
The Great Firewall isn’t just some random censorship against ‘woke’ material. It’s to stop Chinese residents from being barraged by Western propaganda, nazi nonsense and revisionist history slop.
And those who still want to access our Internet can just use a VPN.
Beyond China, I haven’t observed other nations adopting Chinese AI.
Regarding national firewalls, it’s only a matter of time before countries, understanding their cyber sovereignty and the need for national security, build systems tailored to their specific needs. This, of course, comes at the expense of tech giants who’ve thrived on unrestricted internet access.
It really seems as if the US is making a speed run towards outright racism. I know a lot of conservatives were opposed to anything they perceved as woke, but some of them must realise that losing democracy is too high a price for tasting liberal tears. 99% of them will not be in a fascist ruling elite, they’ll be treated the same as everyone else, until they in turn are accused of being woke because they fail an endless Christian Nationalist purity test.
That either the private sector or the government were going to coopt AI was obvious. Its too tempting a super power of control.
While I dissagree with this US gov push, the reality is, [based on unbiased research that you can examine for yourself here](https://modelslant.com/#tab=models) in as much detail as you would like (at least last I checked) all AI models, even Grok have a left wing bias. I certainly don’t think the Government should be looking to sway these biases, and I certainly wouldn’t call Grok “woke” but the accusation of left-wing bias appears real at the time of this comment.

Conservatives would have Stalinism with MAGA characteristics before another Democratic president. The GOP will only get more repressive from here. Google will be sanctioned for allowing woke search results.
With foreign people getting stopped at the border based on what they write on social media about Trump, I can already see it on the horizont. The funny thing is: I am flying to China in the next few weeks and I don’t even need a visa anymore. And I can even use my own SIM since this year, which doesn’t even have the Chinese firewall anymore.

In their eyes , woke I basically reality. Since to them woke is just everything they disagree with. Which is objective facts, and arguments that support social policies that will have long term.net benefits.

I would be willing to bet that our AI is already programmed to minimize influence from the left and reform minded influences.
