      Good on the family for helping the victim, hopefully by the time this monster is out of prison things will have been changed and he can be removed from the country.

      I believe it’s already the case that anyone with a sentence of >12 months will be automatically deported, but I hope he’s only deported after he’s served all full 12 years in prison, there’s no reason to expect he’d get justice in Syria.
