Just curious if anyone has any insight on the history of this piece. Super stoked to add it to my wall of space stuff!

  1. Why would you upload screenshots of the photos you took instead of just *uploading the photos?* Why do people do this? Someone make me understand.

  2. It’s just a cheap reprint. NASA photos had either red or blue serial numbers on them.

They use to break up nasa images into types

Type 1 was produced from the negative.
Type 2 was a first gen copy.
Type 3 was a copy of the copy.

It had to do with how they would distribute the images.

Typically on the front of the picture ( under this pictures frame) would be the ID number for it. Sometimes they would have press releases on the back like yours.

This image is from a tv image transmitted back so there was never a negative but it’s still pretty neat.

I bought some type 2 images before and gave them to my friend’s little sister for her wedding (he works with rockets) and they were very similar style to your images (they were photographs of an Apollo 10 rocket launching and an picture of earth from space from Apollo 10)

I think there is a redditor that picks up prints like this and paints in dinosaurs and their cat. Its pretty good.Â
