Two international powers meet up in the second semifinal of the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship on Wednesday, as Germany takes on Spain.

Spain was heavily favored to win the tournament, and there has not been much to slow them down thus far. After winning Group B with a Euro-best 14 goals, the La Roja had a relatively easy time getting through Switzerland, beating the hosts 2-0 to advance to the semifinals for the second time in the program’s history.

Spain is trying to make it to the Euro final for the first time ever.

They go up against a German squad that hopes it can avenge its loss in the Euro final three years ago. Despite finishing second in Group C, the team managed to outlast a strong team in France in the quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals once again. Germany has made it to the championship match nine times.

However, Spain is 0-3-5 against Germany. The Germans beat Spain in the group stage at the 2022 Euro, as well as the Bronze Medal Match at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
