The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has recommended today to the Kosovo Police the suspension of a police officer who was engaged on duty at the Vërmicë Border Crossing Point, within the Western – Gjakova Regional Border Police Directorate.
PIK investigators have begun an investigation on the suspicion that the same person has committed the criminal offense of “abuse of official position or authority” and after consultations with the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, the case will be handled in a regular procedure.
“Based on the initial investigative actions, it is suspected that the police officer, using the border police database in an unauthorized manner, has verified the data of a citizen – a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo – in the system. The citizen was not present at this border crossing point, while the suspicions are that the police officer has made this verification to confirm whether or not the citizen was wanted by the police,” the PIK statement states.
PIK investigators, in coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, will undertake other investigative actions to shed light on all the circumstances of this case.telegraph/
