30 days of detention for Lulzim Halili in Serbia, MFA: The office in Belgrade will request to visit him

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo has confirmed that the High Court of Belgrade – War Crimes Department, on July 24, 2025, imposed a 30-day detention order on Kosovo citizen, Lulzim Halili.

    Halili was arrested on July 22 by Serbian authorities and, according to a statement from the High War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, is being charged with “organizing and inciting the commission of war crimes and genocide,” based on Article 145, paragraph 2 and Article 1 of the Criminal Code of the former SFRY.

    The Ministry announced that, following confirmation of the initiation of criminal proceedings against Halil, the Liaison Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia will immediately submit an official request to the court to visit him in the Detention Center where he is being held.

    The MFA has announced that it will continue to closely follow this case and will inform the public of any new developments.
