As of the first second of this Sunday, the 120 Kosovo MPs do not have the right to take any action or decision regarding the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly.
Until August 8, until the Constitutional Court’s interim measure ends, they can take their vacations and wait for their next paycheck, without doing anything.
But even the Constitutional Court seems to have its hands pretty tied when it comes to resolving this political impasse, at least that’s what Melos Kolshi from IKL says.
“Regarding solutions, we can say that there are many solutions, but there are also many limitations. At the same time, we can say that new elections could be an option, since the Assembly was not constituted within the constitutional deadline, and we also have a point in the 2014 judgment, which states that the failure to elect a president leads us to new elections,” Kolshi declared, reports RTVDukagjini.
The same one says that the country can go to elections through the president, but the Constitutional Court cannot take the mandate of the deputies.
“This situation would not be considered good practice, since the assumption of the mandate of deputies is determined by the Constitution, and there are foreseen conditions that can be determined by deputies,” Kolshi emphasized.
Meanwhile, political analyst Artan Muhaxheri says that the losses Kosovo has suffered in this blockade are so great that they can hardly be recovered.
“In fact, we can hardly have any idea how much we have lost with this blockade in all aspects: in the political aspect, in the economic aspect, in the internal aspect, in the external aspect. So, Kosovo is losing friends, Kosovo is losing its image, Kosovo would have to work hard in order to return to the point of February 9, when this saga began,” Muhaxheri declared.
According to him, the international factor’s stances are also showing enough.
“The international community, especially the EU, does not consider the current government in office to be a legitimate and powerful government, which is why we have seen it during visits, they have not even treated Kurti as prime minister to visit him in his office,” he stressed.
The Assembly failed to be constituted in 54 attempts.
