Safety fears… Interesting. Reddit told me that the pro-Palestine movement was all about “Anti-Zionism” and not about anti-Semitism

So here everyone, is an example of antisemitism.

So when Jews complain that ‘[Antisemitism is normalised in middle-class Britain](https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1lywpww/antisemitism_normalised_in_middleclass_britain/)’ this is a modern example of it.

They’ve been cancelled due being a potential target for demonstrations (who have conflated their identity with a political movement). Rather than dealing with those protests, it’s far easier to cancel the Jews.

Venue staff expressing safety fears has now been used to shut down a few shows over the past few years. They do seem to be mostly the shows which would typically be objected to by people on the left eg by people with known gender critical views etc.

  4.  Rachel Creeger – Is a-political and has no statements on the genocide but i’ve not seen her statement on this cancellation

Phillip simon however has said that he recieved a note from the venue saying: ”views concerning the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine…are in significant conflict with our venue’s stance against the current Israeli government’s policy and actions.”

This is despite him being critical of israels actions, the most he asked is for peace and to free the hostages

    >Creeger’s show was titled Ultimate Jewish Mother and would mark her third time doing stand-up at Whistlebinkies.

    >Simon, who co-hosts the podcast Jew Talkin’ To Me? alongside Creeger, was due to take his variety show, Jew-O-Rama, which displays Jewish comedic talents, to the same venue.

    >However, just weeks before taking to the stage, they were informed that the shows would not be going ahead, claiming they were told that venue staff expressed safety fears.

Yeah, that’s quite bad isn’t it?

We wouldn’t let any other mob use threats of violence to stop a performer from any other ethnic minority group from doing their show, would we? It would be an outrage, and people would correctly point out that cancelling the show is enabling the racists, and letting them be the arbiters of whom is allowed to perform.

And of course, targeted British Jews because of Israel is completely antisemitic. British Jews are not responsible for anything that Israel does.

  6. The organisers should see some reprecussion for this. Reading the article it just seems blatantly anti semetic.

This is about as clear-cut an example of antisemitism as you can get.

The venues have also confirmed that all anyone needs to do to get an act cancelled is to threaten a hate crime, and the venue will cave to the hate criminals, which is neither sensible nor a shining example of the venue’s ethics.

Oh good, we’ve reached the point where people existing while being Jewish is politically contentious.

Should we also get rid of all the LGBTQ events because bigots get their hateful little knickers in a twist about trans people existing?

    Fuck’s sake.

I don’t understand how this helps anyone?

I am anti-Zionist and appalled at how the world has allowed and in some cases, aided in the genocide in GAZA, but, isn’t it antisemitic to equate Israel and Judaism/Jewish people?

If their shows glorified the genocide, cancel the shows of course, but cancelling them because they are Jewish? Disgusting.

  10. While they shouldn’t have to, go get another venue. There is no shortage of them. Whistlebinkies is a shit hole anyways.
