      I think there is an important shift amongst young people. In the past, if you were young and you were a PiS supporter you’d get weird looks because they were considered a party for old pricks and absolute rednecks. Now Konfederacja (which is basically a PiS spin off for young people) is most popular and mainstream amongst young people. In general the world is shifting from woke to right wing and PiS benefits from this. I think there is like 0% chance the current ruling party will maintain power in next election.

      It’s a two-party system disguised as a multi-party system, after all.

      There are only 2 stages:
      – people, angry at PiS incompetence, vote for PO

      – people, angry at PO incompetence, vote for PiS

      Rinse and repeat.

      All other parties are invisible to the majority of voters.

      But but they said president and government from same party is bad? Surely now they wont give all power to PiS for 8 years again right? Right?

      So, nothing changed, as (unless I forgot something) PiS only lost to PO in last EU election.

      So right now it’s pretty much “will PiS get enough to rule alone” followed by “if not, will Konfederacja get enough to help PiS rule”.

      Well, the ruling party sucks.

      They have squandered a gigantic opportunity for Poland, now we are in for a Law and Justice – Confederation coalition – and Catholic nationalism will be the prevailing doctrine.

      It will be like in Hungary or Turkey – poverty everywhere, but at least there won’t be those nasty lefties/gays/immigrants/whoever it is fashionable to denigrate.
