(P&GJ) — Corinth Pipeworks has been awarded the supply contract for the North Macedonian section of the Greece–North Macedonia Natural Gas Interconnector, a project aimed at boosting energy security and cross-border connectivity in Southeast Europe.
The 123-kilometer (76-mile) pipeline will link the national gas transmission systems of Greece and North Macedonia, with 55 kilometers in Greece and 68 kilometers in North Macedonia. Corinth Pipeworks previously supplied linepipe for the Greek section and will now provide 28-inch Helical Submerged Arc Welded (HSAW) linepipe for the remaining portion of the project.

All pipes will be certified for hydrogen transportation in accordance with ASME B31.12 – Option B, allowing for future integration with low-carbon energy infrastructure.
“We are shaping the future of hydrogen infrastructure,” said Ilias Bekiros, General Manager of Corinth Pipeworks. “This project represents not only an important cross-border collaboration but also a strong step toward decarbonization and energy resilience in Southeast Europe.”
The project is being developed by DESFA of Greece and NOMAGAS JSC of North Macedonia. A ceremony marking the start of construction was held on July 9, 2025, with the interconnector expected to be operational in the first half of 2027.
