The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has filed an indictment against a person due to “well-founded suspicion” of smuggling migrants.

According to the Prosecution, in November 2024, UK had taken two Egyptian citizens, a Moroccan and a Syrian out of the Kosovo-Albania border crossing, whom it was going to transport to the Kosovo-Serbia border point.

Their transportation, according to the indictment, was being done in a car that he had rented from a ‘rent a car’.

“According to the indictment, on 19.11.2024 near the Vërmica border crossing, the defendant UK, engaged in smuggling migrants with the aim of directly or indirectly obtaining financial or other material benefit from the illegal entry of persons into the Republic of Kosovo, who are not citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, in such a way that before the critical day, precisely on 14.11.2024, he agreed with the person named “A.” about the time when migrants would enter Kosovo, and on the critical day, initially the defendant from rent a car “Z.” rents a “Golf 7″ vehicle, with which the vehicle departs in the afternoon towards the border point of Vërmica, in which case when they arrive at their destination, they initially wait for the injured parties who had illegally crossed the Kosovo-Albania border line outside the border crossing point, and take the injured parties in their vehicle: A.(A).F. – Moroccan citizen, M.(W).R. – Syrian citizen, L.(M).A. – Egyptian citizen, and I.(S).A., – Egyptian citizen, whom in exchange for the material benefit he had to transport to the Kosovo-Serbia border point. During the transport of the same, the defendant UK was stopped by the police where the aforementioned injured parties were also encountered in his vehicle, and due to the police stop, they were unable to give the defendant the material benefit,” the Prosecution’s announcement states.

The prosecution requests that UK be found guilty and sentenced.

“The prosecutor in the case, upon filing the indictment, proposed to the court that after holding the judicial hearing, administering the evidence and evaluating it, the aforementioned defendant be found guilty of the criminal offense for which he is accused and be punished according to the law,” the announcement states.
