Apple Pay in Kosovo, from now on you can pay with iPhone, Apple Watch, etc. – details

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) has announced that the well-known international payment service Apple Pay has become officially available in Kosovo.
As stated in the CBK announcement, banks and financial institutions in the country can now link their cards to the Apple Pay platform, enabling citizens and businesses in Kosovo to make fast, secure and contactless payments through their Apple devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, or other).
“The full operationalization of this service for all banks and financial institutions takes the necessary time based on their individual agreements and the necessary technical integrations. This is another important step towards modernizing the payment system, increasing financial inclusion and accelerating digitalization in Kosovo. After the integration of Google Pay, Apple Pay represents a necessary complement to our approach towards the internationalization of financial services and meeting European standards for digital payments,” the announcement states.
“Following the commitments, as well as the recent meeting held in May 2025 with senior representatives of Apple, the CBK emphasized its commitment to ensuring favorable conditions for the adoption of the most modern financial services in Kosovo, within the framework of the activities of the CBK Strategic Plan 2024–2028. This success is the result of close cooperation between the CBK, the banking sector and international partners, with emphasis on the Embassy of the United States of America. The CBK thanks all parties involved for their contribution to this process, and remains committed to further advancing the country’s digital financial infrastructure, in line with international best practices and our aspirations for internationalization and European integration,” the CBK announcement states. /Gazeta Express
