Gërvalla hosts Irish Minister Thomas Byrne in a meeting – support for Kosovo’s European integration emphasized

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, received today in a meeting the Irish Minister for European Affairs and Defense, Thomas Byrne.
During the meeting, Gërvalla welcomed the Irish minister and appreciated Ireland’s continued support for Kosovo, including support for strengthening institutions, European integration, and the engagement of Irish troops within the KFOR mission.
She emphasized the importance of Ireland’s contribution to Kosovo’s European integration process, particularly in supporting membership in the Council of Europe and cooperation in the field of security.
The meeting also discussed the need for a coordinated stance within the EU regarding enlargement policy, which was considered key to preserving peace, security and democratic values on the continent.
Gërvalla reiterated Kosovo’s commitment to full alignment with the European Union’s foreign and security policies, as well as its unwavering stance in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Finally, the minister thanked Ireland for its continued support and underlined that the partnership between the two countries is essential for strengthening Kosovo’s international position and its clear orientation towards the EU.
