There is no historic consensus what ethnicity Skanderbeg’s mother was, unlike with his paternal side. The most recent study comes from Serb Historian Boško Bojovič that studied the relation of the Kastrioti family to the Hilander Monastery. He concludes his maternal side came from the Muzaka family.

  1. I know im gonna get downvoted but the leading theory is that she is a Serbian (or at the least slavic). Contemporary sources, including Marlin Barleti, states that she is a Serbian through the Tribaldi name (Context: Tribali was an ancient and extinct race in modern day Serbia. Although Serbs arent Tribali, during the middle ages the name was use as a synonim, similar to Epirote being used to refer to Albanians.) Having said this, the claim that Skanderbeg fought for Serbia is stupid and actualy has 0 support (not counting serbian nationalistic circles)

I think what her exact ethnicity is doesn’t really matter to skanderbegs status or role in albanian history

We are talking about medieval nobility

Greek , albanian , serb , Hungarian princes would often intermarry and they saw themselves relatively as the same class

If we are to judge other figures like this then french should not care for napoleon or Turks for their sultans who arguably had even less turkish blood in them
