Some businesses have started receiving their electricity bills for June of this year, after a two-month delay. One of the businesses that received a bill for June 2025 that was at least 100 percent more expensive compared to the same period the previous year is the company “Elkos”.

The owner of the company “Elkos”, Ramiz Kelmendi told KosovaPress that today they received the invoice for June in the amount of 346 thousand euros. He emphasizes that the invoice for June 2024 was 166 thousand euros. According to him, this increase has caused an increase in the price of products and services of 10 to 30 percent.

According to him, this increase in electricity prices will seriously damage Kosovo’s economy.

“The bill came to us…Last year, the bill was 166 thousand…June 2025, 346 thousand… We cannot work, but since it has to be transferred to the citizen, then this money somewhere around 200 million additional will come to all citizens on top of the burden of the prices that will be created. For example, if you go to a restaurant with a name, bread, it will be more expensive now, everything is more expensive… Somewhere up to 10 percent, something even more, these things that are produced in Kosovo go up to 30 percent… It is something that persecutes the economy, it is broken, especially in relation to the competition that comes from neighboring countries that have the price of a cheaper selectivity than us”, said Kelmendi.

Likewise, another producer in the country, Shaqir Palushi, has received a late June invoice for at least 100 percent of the most expensive.

Meanwhile, according to the business community, ERO’s decisions risk the massive layoff of thousands of workers, a decrease in production, and an increase in imports.

Businesses have repeatedly protested in Pristina to oppose ERO’s decision, which they say causes a heavy burden on local companies and the Kosovo economy. /KP/
